    On the first weekend, the Vaulting, the concert "Horse & Symphony" and the traditional open day "Soers Sunday" take place

"CHIO Aachen"

  • CHIO: Concours Hippique International Officiel;
    "Official International Equestrian Tournament of the Federal Republic of Germany"
  • Visitors: In June/July 2008, 357,250 spectators visited the CHIO Aachen
  • Three general sponsors: Mercedes-Benz, ROLEX, Warsteiner
  • Volunteers: About 1,200 volunteers during the tournament
  • Media: Almost 500 accredited journalists and over 200 TV employees
  • TV-Coverage: 2008 nationally more than 30 hours (ARD/WDR and ZDF), thereof over 25 hours of "pure" sports coverage; internationally: Broadcasts into all countries of the world (except from Antarctica, there is no satellite reception)

Sport

  • Five disciplines: Jumping, Dressage, Eventing, Four-in-hand Driving, Vaulting
  • Nations' Cups: Aachen is the only tournament during which Nations' Cups in the disciplines Jumping, Dressage, Eventing, Four-in-hand Driving and Vaulting are carried out (this is indicated in the title "Official Tournament")
  • Participants: About 500 horses and 300 riders, drivers and vaulters from more than 20 nations; the world's elite of all disciplines comes to Aachen
  • Jumping: Mercedes-Benz Nations' Cup on Thursday evening under floodlight (July 2nd, 2009)
  • Jumping: Spectacular evening events on Saturday under floodlight: Prize of Sparkasse (Jumping Competition over ditches and banks), MIELE-Prize (Accumulator Jumping Competition with Joker), Sparkassen-Youngsters-Cup - FINAL (Jumping Competition for young horses with jump-off)
  • Eventing: 2-day-event: Friday (July 3rd) dressage and jumping, Saturday (July 4th) Cross-Country (Cross Country Course Soers)
  • Four-in-hand Driving: Wohnwelt Pallen Marathon in Aachen's Soers, Satruday afternoon, entry free of charge
  • Vaulting: Vaulting: At the CHIO's first weekend (June 26th - 28th) in the Albert-Vahle Arena; competitions for ladies, men, teams. The Nations' Cup (Sunday, June 28th) is unique worldwide.

  • Media Awards: Bestowal of the media award "The Silver Horse" in the course of the CHIO Opening Ceremony (June 30th) and the Photographer Award "Silver Camera" on Saturday, July 4th
