CHIO Aachen 2008: Broadcast times remind of WEG Aachen 2006
German networks ARD, ZDF and WDR broadcast from Aachen's Soers - Opening Ceremony live on TV for the first time

The German public TV networks ARD, ZDF and WDR will extensively broadcast the World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen 2008 (June 27th - July 6th), many of the competitions can be seen live on TV. Hence the Mercedes-Benz Nations' Cup on Thursday evening (July 3rd), which is part of the Samsung Super League, will be broadcast live in prime time on ZDF. Equestrian sport under floodlight in front of an audience of 40,000 - "these are broadcast times that remind of the WEG Aachen 2006 two years ago", says Michael Mronz, General Manager of the Aachener Reitturnier GmbH (ART).

For the first time in the CHIO Aachen's history, also the Opening Ceremony on Tuesday, July 1st can be seen simultaneously on TV. The WDR broadcasts the event live as of 5 p.m.
The spectacular and colourful ceremony will be dominated by this year's CHIO partner country Russia and by the Olympic disciplines.

The ROLEX Grand Prix on Sunday, July 6th can be watched live on ARD and WDR, the broadcast starts at 12.30 p.m. The ROLEX Grand Prix, endowed with 350,000 Euros, is the jumping competition with the highest amount of prize money in Germany. The overall endowment of the CHIO, the official tournament of the Federal Republic of Germany, adds up to 1.67 million Euros. On TV, the final Sunday will start off with the dressage: The WDR will broadcast the Deutsche Bank Prize live, the freestyle to music competition starts at 9.00 a.m.
The prelude of the CHIO TV broadcast will be the vaulting competitions on the tournament's first weekend (June 27th - 29th), the WDR will show these pictures.
