Klaus Pavel greets Brazilian vaulting team
Sporting events followed by Isabell Werth's catwalk

When the majority of people think about Brazil, it conjures up images of Samba dancers, famous footballers or the Copacabana. "Unfortunately, it is not a well-known fact that the vaulting sport is also at home in Brazil," commented Pricilia Botton, Chef d´Equipe of the Brazilians at the World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen (June 27th - July 6th). It is only in the metropolis Sao Paulo that "many youths are discovering in the meantime that vaulting is not merely an introduction to the equestrian sport before moving on to jumping or dressage, but is in fact a great sport in itself." This year represents the third visit of the Brazilian vaulting team to Aachen after their appearance at the World Championships in 2006 and last year's CHIO.

And of course Klaus Pavel, Supervisory Board Chairman of the CHIO organisers, the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V. (ALRV), didn't miss out on the opportunity to greet the eleven member team from South America personally in Portuguese. Pavel namely lived in Brazil in the fifties and has been asserting himself ever since for the socially deprived classes there. In 1988 he was endowed with the Brazilian honorary title of Consul for his commitment.

What's more, there was a further surprise in store for the vaulting team in addition to the personal welcome: The dressage star Isabell Werth will be presenting her new equestrian sport collection next Saturday on July 5th at the CHIO show grounds - and the Brazilian delegation are allowed to take part on the catwalk.
