Fantastic festive reception of the CHIO Aachen's partner country

"Dobro Poshalovat´, Russia!" - A warm welcome Russia! The arrival of the CHIO partner country Russia in Aachen was festive, colourful and spectacular. 110 Russian riders, musicians and dances presented folklore and the equestrian tradition of their native country on Monday evening on the market square of Aachen. Sat upright in the saddle with their swords at their sides, the Guards of Honour of the Russian President made a serious impression as they led the delegation through the streets. It is the first time the regiment has ever left Russia. The parade continued on a cheerful and light note with displays by the "Dzhigits", a stunt troop, and Cossack riders. Thousands of citizens from Aachen, who are already eagerly looking forward to Tuesday, applauded the performances set in front of the Town Hall: In addition to the Russian guests the Opening Ceremony, which starts at 5 p.m. tomorrow, will be offering a full programme. Hundreds of riders and horses will take part in a colourful show and the Federal Chancellor, Angela Merkel, will officially open the CHIO Aachen 2008.
