Tribute to the former Board Members
Arno Gego receives ALRV Golden Ring, Klaus Peters appointed
Honorary Member

Both visibly enjoyed the
lap of honour round the main stadium in the carriage: Professor
Dr. Arno Gego was distinguished with the Golden Ring of the
Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V. (ALRV) at the World Equestrian
Festival, CHIO Aachen 2008 (June 27th - July 6th), Klaus Peters
is going to be appointed Honorary Member of the CHIO organisers
at the next General Meeting.
ALRV President Klaus Pavel praised Peters and
Gego as "long-time companions, whose assistance has helped
our tournament to make it to the very top, where it has long
since established itself." Klaus Peters was Vice-President
of the association from 1993 until April 2008, has been a
member since 1970 and was already actively involved in the
mid-fifties as a young quadrille rider. Professor Dr. Arno
Gego was not only born at the Soers in Aachen in 1938, "but
he has also shaped our main stadium in his function as course
designer. The arena carries his signature," commented
Pavel.
Gego is one of the most famous course designers
in the world, for instance he has co-organised Olympic competitions
and was Chief Course Designer at the Aachen Soers from 1980
to 2002. Gego started working for Aachen in 1965 already and
was furthermore ALRV Board Member between 1990 and April 2008.
Gego is concurrently Ethical Adviser of the CHIO Aachen and
co-founder of the Aachen School Of Course Design, which asserts
itself for the improvement of the quality of courses worldwide.
"We are extremely grateful to Klaus Peters and Arno Gego
for their endless commitment," said Pavel. "We are
delighted that they have agreed to carry on supporting us
in an advisory capacity even after retiring from the Board."
