Tribute to the former Board Members
Arno Gego receives ALRV Golden Ring, Klaus Peters appointed Honorary Member

Both visibly enjoyed the lap of honour round the main stadium in the carriage: Professor Dr. Arno Gego was distinguished with the Golden Ring of the Aachen-Laurensberger Rennverein e.V. (ALRV) at the World Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen 2008 (June 27th - July 6th), Klaus Peters is going to be appointed Honorary Member of the CHIO organisers at the next General Meeting.

ALRV President Klaus Pavel praised Peters and Gego as "long-time companions, whose assistance has helped our tournament to make it to the very top, where it has long since established itself." Klaus Peters was Vice-President of the association from 1993 until April 2008, has been a member since 1970 and was already actively involved in the mid-fifties as a young quadrille rider. Professor Dr. Arno Gego was not only born at the Soers in Aachen in 1938, "but he has also shaped our main stadium in his function as course designer. The arena carries his signature," commented Pavel.

Gego is one of the most famous course designers in the world, for instance he has co-organised Olympic competitions and was Chief Course Designer at the Aachen Soers from 1980 to 2002. Gego started working for Aachen in 1965 already and was furthermore ALRV Board Member between 1990 and April 2008. Gego is concurrently Ethical Adviser of the CHIO Aachen and co-founder of the Aachen School Of Course Design, which asserts itself for the improvement of the quality of courses worldwide. "We are extremely grateful to Klaus Peters and Arno Gego for their endless commitment," said Pavel. "We are delighted that they have agreed to carry on supporting us in an advisory capacity even after retiring from the Board."
