Christian Ahlmann wins the Prize of the AachenMünchener
Exciting jump-off

Christian Ahlmann went one
better in the Prize of the AachenMünchener at the World
Equestrian Festival, CHIO Aachen 2008. He knocked almost a
second off the fastest time of 44.98, which Ludger Beerbaum
had set and crossed the finished line with the nine-year-old
KWPN gelding, Sebastian, as the winner. "The gelding
is one of two young aspiring horses that I have got. I wanted
to ride him here so that he can gather some experience for
his future career," explained Christian Ahlmann about
his Lux son. "I obviously hadn't bargained with this
victory, but I placed all my bets on one card and seized my
chance. It was super," the rider from Marl (Germany)
said cheerfully.
Ludger Beerbaum claimed second place on the
Holstein Calido son, Coupe de Coeur. The stallion who won
the German Championship title twice together with Rene Tebbel,
"flew" round course in 44.98 seconds. The crowd
was convinced that this time was unbeatable, but Ahlmann proved
them wrong. The American show-jumper Anne Kursinski came third
on the Hessen-bred mare Roxana von Rodgau with a time of 46.34
seconds. Twelve pairs took part in the winning round after
managing to jump clear in the first two rounds.
