Beezie Madden triumphs in the Prize of the Dubai
Equestrian Club
Identical jump-off to the Final of the World Equestrian Games
2006

"This means we are going
to experience an exact rerun of the World Equestrian Games,"
announced the commentator before the jump-off in the Dubai
Equestrian Club, Best of Champions: Jos Lansink, Beezie Madden
and Meredith Michaels Beerbaums all qualified for the jump-off
after the rotation of horses. But it was the American rider
Beezie Madden who finally claimed the victory at the World
Equestrian Festival. She rode the KWPN mare Prima. "Prima
is a very careful mare, she hasn't got much experience in
courses over 1.50 metres yet, but she always gives her very
best. She performed superbly here," said Beezie Madden,
who won individual silver at the World Equestrian Games, joyously.
The Kigali/Nimmerdor daughter is only nine years old. "Because
she has got a lot of thoroughbred in her, I was sure that
she wouldn't have any problems jumping several rounds. All
of the horses were nice to ride, but if I had to decide, I
would choose my own horse."
Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum had also entered
a young horse for this competition: The grey mare Lou already
won several Youngster Cups last year under Franke Sloothaak.
Michaels-Beerbaum finished third with the 9-year-old Hanoverian-bred
Lordanos/Gimpel daughter. "She is sometimes a bit shy
still, but she has got a super attitude," Michaels-Beerbaum
explained. She had a hairy moment with Jos Lansink's imposing
Darco son, Vainqueur. "As we approached the jump I realised
that the take-off was going to be close, but I didn't realise
how close until the very last moment," the reigning German
Champion reported. Jos Lansink came second with his Belgian
horse, Vainqueur. Lansink didn't want to reveal whether Rodrigo
Pessoa had bought the grey gelding, Cazino, which the Brazilian
rider had entered for the competition with rotation of horses,
for a bargain price. But quite evidently Pessoa has acquired
a very talented, eight-year-old. "I was very wary with
this horse, because it has the least experienced," Beezie
Madden stated. Cazino was the only horse to pick-up four faults
in the regular rounds - and he collected them with his own
rider, Rodrigo Pessoa.
